Do you charge for travel time?
For local moves, we start the clock when we begin at your pick-up location and stop the clock when we complete your move at your destination. For longer-distance moves outside of New York or with a travel time of greater than an hour, we may add a flat charge to cover estimated travel time or offer a flat rate for your entire move. All of these details are covered before your move is confirmed.
Are there any hidden charges or fees?
Just like our policy on travel time, there are never any hidden fees with Easy Van. All charges and fees are clearly outlined in your quote and agreed upon before we confirm your move.
Do you charge a deposit?
We do not charge booking or cancellation fees! We simply ask our customers to be as considerate as possible when it comes to rescheduling and cancellations.
Do you do out-of-state moves?
We’ll help you move to or from anywhere within a four-hour radius of the five boroughs. We’ve helped customers move to/from Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philly, Boston, even Washington DC. Estimated travel time, labor, gas and tolls will be included in your flat-rate quote.
Do you provide a COI if my building requires one?
If your building strictly requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI) you may not be able to use our services. Not carrying a million dollar property insurance policy is one way we're able to keep our prices low. Most buildings do not require a COI for smaller moves, the exception being some condo, co-op and fancy-schmancy high-rise buildings.
Can I hitch a ride with you in the van?
Our vans only have two passenger seats. If you hire us for a two-man move, we ask that you secure arrangements for your own transportation. We strive to make things easy for our customers, but we also want them to be safe!
I’m throwing away some of my furniture. Can you help?
We do not do trash hauling or rubbish removal, but we can help place items on your curb or in your building’s designated trash area. Please click here to check on your building’s trash pick-up schedule.
Do you supply boxes?
We do not supply boxes or other packing materials besides moving tape, which is typically used to secure loose items, hold drawers and doors closed or seal up your mattress bags. For a sustainable, eco-friendly solution, we recommend contacting our friends at Gorilla Bins for reusable bins.
Do you provide packing services?
We do not specifically offer packing services, although we can assist with breaking down or disassembling/reassembling certain items. We ask our customers to be packed and ready to move before we arrive to ensure that their move is fast, efficient and affordable.
What can I do to be prepared for my move?
If you care about your belongings, make sure they're packed in something! Use like-sized, stackable boxes. Use bags only when boxes are impractical.
Tape boxes shut! (Folding them closed doesn't usually cut it)
Consolidate loose articles to minimize the number of trips. Less time = less money!
Make sure larger objects are cleared off and accessible to move first.
Empty all drawers! (and tape them shut if possible)
Remove bulbs from lamps and pack lampshades in boxes. (if you care about them!)
Make sure any plants are securely prepared, packed and spill-proof if you’re not planning on transporting them yourself. (*we cannot promise to move plants that are not packed, prepped or greater than 6’ tall)
Bundle & tape shelves, bed frame pieces and other similar shaped objects.
Separate & label objects that may be traveling to different destinations.
Consider covering your mattress! We always have mattress bags available for $10/each.
